triumvirate of Malaysians took to the podium, victorious as they outshone 34 other competitors, and improving from his performance last year was Tengku Djan who took home the championship.
Hosted at the Changi Exhibition Centre, 37 drift drivers from Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand came out to put their pedal to the metal in this year’s event where the spotlight shone on the top amateur drivers in the region. Runner-up in last year’s event, Tengku Djan’s Toyota Trueno AE86 who played second fiddle to Ryuji Miki’s Mazda RX-7 FD3S in an Initial D styled finale finally took home the bragging rights for 2009 as the Hachiroku out-drifted the rest of the field in an emphatic fashion to win the Formula DRIFT ProAm Series 2009 competition.
