ack in the early 1990s, Kei car sized sports cars were in the rage. These included the Honda Beat, Suzuki Cappuccino and Mazda Autozam AZ-1. Marketed in the lifestyle niche, these highly popular cars gave consumers the best of both worlds, offering them the combination of both a fuel efficient Kei car with a head turning coupe sports car design. Into the new millennium, Daihatsu revisits this well loved car genre with the Copen.
Kei cars are in the rage these days and one buys a Kei in Japan due to the fact that it is easy to drive and amazingly convenient around town. With their micro sized body frames, light weight, relatively responsive engines, amazingly frugal fuel consumptions and cute designing, this genre of cars are guaranteed head turners. Also the sheer smallness of the Kei allows one to park with ease, be it reverse or parallel parking. An up and coming car segment in Singapore at the moment, we are seeing more and more of these tiny cars on the streets. Well, it could be due to the escalating fuel prices, and Kei cars are adept at saving fuel, but that aside, it is the “Its so cute and I want one!” factor that these cars offer. Often one would have his or her heart strings tugged, upon seeing one and what more the cutest of them lot? We hereby introduce to you readers, the Daihatsu Copen.
