hat’s this device you see here? Hatchback? SUV? MPV? All of the above is the answer. Presenting the all-new 2009 Honda FREED, the very first compact mini MPV that is able to accommodate up to eight adult passengers with its three rows of seats. And its even canine-friendly!
Here we have the most crossed-over of crossovers, a car that can do just about anything humanly required of a vehicle, and looks good at the same time. You might recall that there aren’t too many compact hatchbacks, or for that matter, mini MPVs that stop you dead in your tracks the first time you clap eyes on them, but the all-new Honda FREED does. It might be based on the familiar, humdrum FIT/JAZZ but it’s had a serious dose of CIVIC and ODYSSEY DNA innovated into its compact body. If you didn’t know already, you’d never guess that it can accommodate six, much less eight passengers.
So, whats new? In one sense, everything. “Honda developed this vehicle with the goal of creating a mini-MPV that is comfortable and easy-to-use for every passenger and that offers new value by enabling Singaporeans to fully and freely utilize this vehicle in activities that meet individual and active lifestyles ranging from daily transportation to leisure time trips up North,” explains Mr. Jason Koh, Managing Director, Fabulous International Pte Ltd.
